Don't let your old phone lie around gathering dust when you can get up to £80 by sending it to Fonebak to be
re-used or recycled.

Aside from getting some extra cash for your piggy bank or your favourite charity, you can rest easier knowing you haven't contributed to the estimated 1,500 tonnes of annual landfill from discarded mobiles - and someone in a developing country may be able to make use of your phone.

Keen to take part? It's easy. Once you've worked out how much your phone's worth, find out how to recycle it in just three steps.

Prepare your old mobile for recycling and send it off in three easy steps:

  1. Make sure you delete all personal data from your old mobile phone and remove the SIM card. Keep the SIM to use in your new phone.
  2. Print this form (PDF, 59KB) and fill in all the details, including your choice of registered charity, (if you're choosing to donate your money). Then pop the slip, your old mobile phone, the charger and any accessories into a suitable envelope or postage bag.
  3. Post the package to FREEPOST T-MOBILE RECYCLING. It's a good idea to keep your receipt.

Tip: You don't need to order a recycling bag to use this service.

What happens next?

Your old mobile phone will be tested by Fonebak to check that it works and meets the terms and conditions.

Assuming it does, Fonebak will send a cheque either to you or your chosen charity, within 21 days. The value of the cheque will be based on the model and condition of the phone.
